Install (macOS)

  1. Download the installerFrom the download page.
  2. Open the .pkg and follow the stepsIt installs the AU (/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components), VST3 (/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3) and the Standalone app (/Applications).
  3. Rescan plugins in your DAWChord Agent 2 is an instrument: load it on a MIDI / instrument track.

Requirements: macOS 11 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel, any host that loads AU or VST3 instruments (Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Bitwig, Reaper and others) or the Standalone app.

Activate

  1. Open Chord Agent 2 (plugin or Standalone) and click LICENSETop right. On first launch the licence card opens by itself.
  2. Paste your licence key (CA2-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX)It's shown on the page you land on right after paying. Lost it? Email us from your purchase address and we'll send it again.
  3. Click ACTIVATEActivation needs a connection once; after that the plugin stays unlocked offline.

One licence works on 2 computers. To move it, open LICENSE on the old computer and click DEACTIVATE THIS COMPUTER, or activate on the new one and deactivate a listed computer there. You can move a licence 3 times in 30 days; after that, email us and we'll reset it.

Own Chord Agent 1? Your upgrade is free: in the licence card choose I have a v1 serial instead, enter your v1 email and serial, and you get a Chord Agent 2 key back. How the upgrade works.

Using it in Ableton Live

  1. Put Chord Agent 2 on a MIDI trackThe built-in synth plays the chords straight away.
  2. Type a vibe, choose a genre, bar count and key, then hit GENERATE (or press Enter)KEY can be AUTO or a fixed key for the next generation.
  3. Press play in LiveThe progression loops in time with the song. With the transport stopped, PLAY previews it.
  4. Shape itLock chords (click the padlock area, or alt-click a cell), then REFINE with words or ask for a NEW HARMONY. The voicing and rhythm knobs and the ROLL buttons re-render instantly.
  5. Change key◀ / ▶ next to KEY transpose by a semitone; click KEY to jump to any tonic (TRANSPOSE TO) or ask for a different mode (MODE, e.g. F minor → F dorian), which re-voices the progression on the server.
  6. Pick a soundSOUND (arrows or click for the list) or the PATCH knob: warm pad, Rhodes, felt piano, house organ, strings, dub chord, glass bell, lo-fi keys, saw stab, sub pluck. LEVEL sets the volume.
  7. Play your own instrumentOn another MIDI track set MIDI From to the Chord Agent 2 track (pick Chord Agent 2 in the second dropdown), arm it or set Monitor to In, and switch SYNTH off in Chord Agent 2.
  8. Drag the DRAG MIDI cartridge into a clip slot or the arrangementYou get the exact notes you hear.

FAQ

Do I need an internet connection?
For GENERATE, REFINE, NEW HARMONY and changing MODE, yes: the harmony is written on our server. Activating needs a connection once. Everything else (voicing and rhythm knobs, ROLL, transposing, history, playback, the synth sounds, MIDI out and drag-to-clip) runs locally.
Where do I enter or change my licence?
Click LICENSE at the top right of Chord Agent 2. It shows your licence and the computers it's active on.
Where's my licence key?
It's shown on the page you land on right after paying (CA2-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). Lost it? Email support@sonic-weapons.com from the address you bought with and we'll send it again.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Yes: one licence works on 2 computers at a time. Free one with LICENSE → DEACTIVATE THIS COMPUTER, or from the list that appears when you activate a third. You can move it 3 times in 30 days; after that, email us.
Is there a Windows version?
Not yet. Chord Agent 2 is macOS only for now.
I own Chord Agent 1. Do I pay again?
No. Install Chord Agent 2, open LICENSE, choose I have a v1 serial instead and enter your v1 email and serial: you get a Chord Agent 2 key back. How the upgrade works.
The plugin says my key or serial isn't valid.
Paste the whole key, including CA2-. For a v1 serial, use the exact email address you bought v1 with; dashes and capitals don't matter. Still stuck, or lost your v1 serial? Email us from your purchase address.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase. Email support@sonic-weapons.com from your purchase address. The refund goes back to your card through Stripe and the licence stops working.
Can I use the chords in released music?
Yes. Everything you make with Chord Agent 2 is yours, royalty-free.
